The first passenger electric train on the route Tashkent-Termez has been met at a festive event at Termez railway station

Uzbekiston Temir Yollari (Uzbekistan Railways), along with fast and high-quality performance of complex construction works in different regions of the country, also pays special attention to increasing the efficiency of freight and passenger transportation. A striking example of this is the work carried out on the Karshi-Termez railroad with a length of 325 km.

$327.6 million was allocated for the implementation of this project. The project was implemented by the builders of the unitary enterprise “1-energomontazh trains”.

“Our builders quickly and accurately carried out all the necessary works, including on difficult mountain sections of the road,” says the deputy head of the enterprise A. Kodirov. “All construction and installation works at the railway section of Darband-Termez were completed in two months. As a result, conditions were created for prompt delivery of goods to the south of the country and improving the quality of passenger transportation.”

The introduction of electric locomotives in the Surkhandarya region will drastically reduce fuel costs, increase freight traffic twice, and significantly reduce harmful emissions into the atmosphere.

“Until recently, we could not imagine that the movement of electric trains will be launched in the region,” says the veteran of the railway industry, the holder of the Mehnat Shuhrati order Sh. Devarov. “The electrification of our railways is important not only in the further development of the economy, but also in ensuring environmental stability in the country. Thanks to this, the efficiency of train traffic on the mountain sections of the railway road Toshguzar-Baysun-Kumkurgan will increase, it will be possible to extend cargo and passenger trains due to additional wagons. All this is the result of constant attention paid to the country's further improvement of the people’s well-being and living standards.”
