“Highway Logistics” center will serve to further strengthen international trade relations

The Great Silk Road has long been an important place in development of historical, cultural, trade and economic relations between the countries of the East and the West.

In the present era of globalization and integration, restoring traditions of the Great Silk Road has more than ever actual significance. Initiatives of Uzbekistan are aimed at developing the engineering, communication and road transport infrastructure in the region, ensuring broad integration into the international network of transport communications.

Practical embodiment of these noble aspirations became the establishment of a modern logistic center – “Highway Logistics” in Zangiata district of Tashkent region.

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during his trip to Zangiata district on January 5, got acquainted with activities of this center.

The experience of Germany, France, Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan and other countries in the field of logistics was studied in organizing a multifunctional center. Taking into account the indicators, requirements of the domestic and foreign market, an infrastructure has been created for providing services on international and domestic cargo transportation, qualitative and operational processing and delivery of goods.

350 jobs are created in the center of a total cost of more than 40 million US dollars and an area of 14,2 hectares. Its annual capacity of providing logistics services on export and import of goods is 1,2 million tons.

The customs department is organized on the territory of the center. There is a centralized warehouse of products, customs post, bank, departments for filling out declarations, certification and screening, companies on sending and receiving goods, customs brokers. All services are provided through the “Single window” center.

According to specialists, daily expenses of truck drivers amount to an average of 35-40 US dollars, in foreign countries. And in “Highway Logistics” center, three hot meals a day, hotel and car parks services will cost an average of 20 dollars.

Registering foreign trucks system has been introduced in the logistics center. This will allow carriers to cover the cost of delivering goods in the opposite direction, which, in turn, will allow exporting goods at half the cost. As a result, road expenses for exporting goods and the cost of production will decrease.

A motel, restaurant of national cuisine, car maintenance outlets, a parking lot for 150 cars, refrigerated warehouse for storage of products, operational customs and brokerage services are organized in the center with the purpose of creating amenities.

“Highway Logistics” center is equipped with WMS Axelot warehouse management system, Hormann unloading station, multimedia security center and a modern system of round-the-clock video surveillance.

At the same time, the center is capable of simultaneous registration and customs clearance of 20 trucks. With introduction of an “A” class warehouse in the second quarter of this year, it will be possible to simultaneously serve another 30 cars.

At present, the “Highway Logistics” center renders freight forwarding services to freight transport arriving from Iran, Turkey, Russia, the Baltic countries by railways, air and automobile routes.

In general, the center will help domestic producers to bring their products to the regional and world markets, will facilitate the broad integration of our country into the international network of transport communications.
