Uzbekistan: Route to Drawings

In the mountains of the Sherabad district of Surkhandarya region, they plan to open a route to the Zarautsai gorge, where about two hundred petroglyphs were found.

The primitive man depicted hunting with dogs for bulls, as well as people wearing masks and wild animals. Images are made at historically different times: from the Middle Paleolithic - the ancient stone period (several tens of thousands of years before our era) and to the Bronze Age (over in the first millennium BC).

Figures are marked on the rock by the so-called desert tan - a yellowed mortar from time - at the height of human growth. Ancient artist painted drawings with a brush, sometimes with a finger, and as paint he used ocher, which is rich in Zarautsai, trying to use the natural relief of the rock.
